Company Calendar
Company Calendar
Overview
The Company Calendar is your home base for everything time-related in Marmend: team events, meetings, time-off, birthdays, and scheduled bookings — all on one page. It used to live across three separate screens (Calendar, Calendar settings, Scheduling settings). Those three are now one place: Company → Calendar.
Think of it as a merged view where the calendar and the tools to shape it (which calendars to show, which people to filter by, how to connect Google) live side-by-side.
What Changed
If you used Marmend before, here's what moved:
| Old location | Where it is now |
|---|---|
Company → Calendar settings page |
Gone — replaced by the Manage calendars modal on the Calendar page |
Company → Scheduling → Settings page |
Gone — replaced by the Scheduling tab on the Calendar page |
| Share-link / export options | Inside Manage calendars → Marmend calendar |
| "Connect Google Calendar" button | Manage calendars → Add calendar (or the tip banner on first visit) |
All the actions still exist — they're just reachable from one page now.
Navigating the Page
Open Company → Calendar. You'll see three areas:
- Context panel on the left — mini-calendar, employee filter, calendar visibility, and the Calendar/Scheduling tab switcher.
- Main grid in the centre — the day / week / month view.
- Floating view switcher at the bottom-right — toggle between Day, Week, and Month.
Switching between Calendar and Scheduling
At the top of the context panel there are two tabs:
- Calendar — your regular view: all events, meetings, leave requests, and birthdays from connected calendars.
- Scheduling — a focused view for managing your booking types. Availability slots and confirmed bookings are drawn as coloured indicators on the grid, so you can see at a glance when people have already booked time with you.
The page remembers which tab you were on through the URL, so it's safe to bookmark.
Collapsing the context panel
Click the collapse arrow on the context panel to narrow it to an icon-only rail. Useful when you want the grid to take the full width.
The Context Panel
Mini-calendar
A compact month picker. Click any date to jump the main grid to that day (or week/month, depending on your current view).
Filter by employee
Start typing a colleague's name in the employee search box to add them as a filter. The grid will then show events from the selected people only (your own events always remain visible).
- You can select multiple people.
- Remove a filter by clicking the × next to their name.
- This filter is shared via URL, so you can send a teammate a link to the view you're looking at.
My calendars — choose what to show
Below the filter, "My calendars" lists:
- Marmend — the internal company calendar (events created in Marmend itself).
- Every connected external calendar (Google accounts you've added).
Toggle a checkbox off to hide that calendar from your view. The setting is saved per user, so hiding a calendar only affects what you see.
The Marmend calendar's hidden state persists across sessions. If you've hidden it and wonder why you don't see your Marmend events, re-check the box here.
Calendar integration tip
If you haven't connected any external calendar yet, a small tip appears in the panel inviting you to do so. Dismiss it by clicking the × — it won't come back.
Managing Connected Calendars
Click Manage calendars (top-right of the grid on Calendar tab).
A modal opens with two panels:
- Left — list of providers: the Marmend calendar plus every external account you've connected.
- Right — details for the selected provider.
Marmend calendar
Selecting "Marmend calendar" shows:
- A shareable iCal link — paste this into Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar to subscribe to your Marmend events from outside the app.
- A Copy button next to the link.
- Collapsible step-by-step instructions for subscribing in Google Calendar and Outlook (click an accordion to expand).
Connected Google account
Selecting a Google entry shows:
- The email address of the connected account.
- A Disconnect button that removes the integration.
Disconnecting does not delete any events that have already synced — it just stops future sync. You can reconnect the same account later if you change your mind.
Adding a calendar account
Click Add calendar in the panel (or "Add calendar" in "My calendars"). Pick Google Calendar and you'll be redirected to Google to authorise Marmend. On success you're brought back here and the new account appears in "My calendars" immediately.
Microsoft Outlook support exists in the codebase but isn't enabled in the UI yet. If your team relies on Outlook, reach out to Marmend support.
Creating an Event
Two ways:
- Click the Create event button on the Calendar tab.
- Click an empty time slot directly on the Week or Day grid — a small popover opens at that position.
If you have connected calendars, you'll first be asked which calendar the event should live in (Marmend or one of your Google accounts). If you only have the Marmend calendar, that step is skipped.
Fill in title, times, attendees, description, and optionally toggle "Add meeting bot" to have an AI recorder join when the meeting starts.
Tip: Dragging the popover's header lets you move it out of the way — useful when you want to check another day without closing the form.
Scheduling Tab
Open the Scheduling tab to see how your booking types interact with your real calendar.
What appears on the grid
- Coloured stripes along the left edge of each hour cell — these indicate your available slots for each booking type. Up to two booking types are shown side-by-side; the colour matches the booking type's label colour.
- Event cards — confirmed bookings render as regular events, labelled with the booking type's name and colour.
This view is especially useful to check that your booking types don't overlap in unexpected ways — or to see at a glance how busy an upcoming week is with booked meetings.
Show events from all calendars
A checkbox at the top of the grid toggles whether the Scheduling view includes events from your external calendars (Google) or shows only Marmend events plus bookings. Turn it on to get the full picture of your availability; turn it off for a cleaner view of bookings only.
Selecting a booking type
In the context panel (left side, Scheduling tab), every booking type you host is listed. Click one to:
- Highlight its availability stripes on the grid (others are dimmed).
- Open a quick panel with its details and a Copy link button — so you can paste the booking URL into an email or chat.
- Jump to the full editor with the pencil icon.

Troubleshooting
"My Google events aren't showing." Open Manage calendars. If Google shows a yellow "Authorization required" banner, click Reconnect Google Calendar and re-authorise — your token probably expired.
"I connected Google but 'Marmend' is all I see in 'My calendars'." The first sync happens asynchronously after connect. Reload the page after ~10 seconds; you should see your Google calendars listed. If still not showing, disconnect and reconnect the account.
"Events I used to see disappeared." Check the My calendars checkboxes in the context panel — a calendar might have been hidden by accident.
"I can't find the old Calendar settings page." It's gone by design — everything it did is now inside Manage calendars on the Calendar page.
