Dashboard

Updated August 4, 2026

The Dashboard is your home screen — the first thing you see after logging in. It gives you a personalized snapshot of what matters today: your profile, upcoming events, leave, birthdays, meetings, and new job applications.

What You Can Do

  • See a personalized overview of your day at a glance
  • Rearrange and show or hide dashboard widgets to suit you
  • See which teammates are currently online (when enabled)
  • Send quick, in-the-moment messages to online colleagues (when enabled)

Dashboard Widgets

The dashboard is built from widgets. Which ones you see depends on your role and your personal settings. Common widgets include:

  • Profile header — Your avatar, name, office, and how long you've been with the company. On your work anniversary or birthday, you'll see a special greeting.
  • Leave overview — Your current leave status (on vacation, on sick leave, pending request, approved, or declined) and your remaining balance.
  • Onboarding overview — A reminder of your onboarding progress, with a link back to the wizard.
  • New applications — Recent candidate applications (for recruiting roles).
  • Leave requests — Pending leave requests awaiting your attention (for approvers).
  • Upcoming birthdays — Teammates with birthdays coming up.
  • Meetings for today — Your scheduled meetings for the day.

Smaller "mini" widgets, such as a mini calendar and at-a-glance counts, appear alongside the main widgets.

Customizing Your Dashboard

You can tailor the dashboard layout to your liking.

  1. Open Customize mode from the dashboard (the customize control in the dashboard header).
  2. Reorder widgets — Drag a widget by its handle to move it up or down.
  3. Show or hide widgets — Toggle each widget's visibility on or off.
  4. Save your changes. Your layout is remembered and applied every time you return.

If you haven't customized anything yet, Marmend shows a sensible default layout based on your role.

Presence: Who's Online

When your organization enables presence tracking, the interface shows which of your teammates are currently active. Online colleagues appear as a row of small overlapping avatars with a colored status dot:

  • Green — Online and active (active within the last 5 minutes)
  • Idle — Recently active (5 to 15 minutes ago)
  • Away — Inactive for a longer period (more than 15 minutes)

People who have been inactive for a long time drop off the list automatically. Presence is shown both platform-wide (everyone online in your workspace) and per page (who else is viewing the same page as you).

Note: Presence tracking is available only to HR, Recruiter, Manager, Admin, and Owner roles, and only when your organization has the feature turned on. If you don't see online indicators, the feature may be disabled for your company or not available for your role.

Ephemeral Chat

When your organization also enables ephemeral chat, you can start a quick conversation with anyone who is currently online. Simply click a colleague's avatar in the presence row to open a small chat window and send a message.

Ephemeral chat is designed for fast, in-the-moment exchanges — a quick "are you free for a call?" rather than a permanent record:

  • Messages are temporary. They are kept in memory only and automatically disappear after a few hours.
  • Conversations are not saved to a permanent history and are cleared if the system restarts.
  • Chat is only possible with teammates who are online right now.

Note: Ephemeral chat depends on presence tracking being available too. If your organization hasn't enabled it, you won't see the chat option.
