LinkedIn Integration - Roadmap

Last Updated: 2026-01-13 Audience: End Users & Decision Makers

This document outlines what you can do with LinkedIn integration today, what's coming next, and what limitations exist.

Current Capabilities (Available Now)

The LinkedIn integration currently supports:

Feature Status Description
Account Connection Available Connect your personal LinkedIn account via OAuth
Text Posts Available Share text updates (up to 3000 characters)
Profile Access Available View basic profile info (name, email, picture)
Multi-user Support Available Each team member can connect their own account
Token Auto-refresh Available Tokens refresh automatically - no manual re-auth needed

What You Can Do Today

  1. Share Job Postings - Post job openings to your LinkedIn feed
  2. Company Updates - Share news and announcements
  3. Professional Content - Publish thought leadership content
  4. Team Coordination - Multiple HR team members can post from their accounts

Coming Soon - High Priority Features

Rich Media Posts

Status: Planned (High Priority)

Soon you'll be able to include images and videos in your LinkedIn posts:

  • Image Posts - Attach company logos, team photos, office images
  • Video Posts - Share recruitment videos, company culture content
  • Article Sharing - Share blog posts with preview cards
  • Polls - Create engagement polls with 2-4 options

Why it matters: Posts with images get 2x more engagement than text-only posts.

Company Page Posting

Status: Planned (High Priority)

Post on behalf of your LinkedIn Company Page instead of your personal profile:

  • Official company voice for announcements
  • Wider reach to company followers
  • Better for employer branding
  • Choose between personal or company account when posting

Why it matters: Job postings from company pages appear more professional and reach more candidates.

Future Features - Medium Priority

Post Scheduling

Status: Future Development

Schedule posts for later instead of publishing immediately:

  • Queue content for specific dates/times
  • Plan your content calendar in advance
  • Post during optimal engagement times
  • Manage drafts before publishing

Post Analytics

Status: Future Development (Requires LinkedIn Partner Approval)

Track how your posts perform:

  • View count and impressions
  • Reactions, comments, and shares
  • Click-through rates
  • Audience demographics

Note: This feature requires special approval from LinkedIn and may take longer to implement.

What's Not Possible

Due to LinkedIn's API restrictions, certain features are not available and won't be implemented:

Feature Reason
Direct Messaging LinkedIn blocks third-party messaging to prevent spam
Connection Requests Cannot send connection invites via API
Profile Scraping Privacy protection - can't view random profiles
Email Export GDPR compliance - can't bulk export contact emails
Automated Networking LinkedIn prohibits automated social actions
InMail/Recruiter Features Requires separate LinkedIn Recruiter subscription

Features Requiring Paid LinkedIn Products

These features are technically possible but require additional LinkedIn subscriptions:

  • LinkedIn Recruiter API - Job posting management, applicant tracking
  • Sales Navigator - Advanced search, lead recommendations
  • Marketing API (Full) - Detailed analytics and audience insights

Feature Comparison by Phase

Phase Features Priority API Availability
Phase 1 (Current) Text posts, profile access - Free
Phase 2 Images, videos, articles, polls High Free
Phase 3 Post analytics Medium Requires approval
Phase 4 Company page posting High Free
Phase 5 Post scheduling Medium Free (internal)
Phase 6 Comments, reactions Low Limited
