CMS Pages
CMS Pages
Overview
CMS Pages let you build and publish pages for your public site — an About page, a Team page, a Values page, and more — without leaving Marmend. Pages are built from visual blocks, can be drafted with AI, translated into other languages, and go live on your public site when you publish them. They sit alongside your public job listings.
Page editing is available to owners and admins.
Where to find it
Everything starts from Admin Panel → CMS. It opens the job site editor — the visual, always-present home of your public site (your Landing and Open roles pages are created for you automatically). From its sidebar, All pages (advanced editor) takes you to the full page list, showing each page's title, slug (the part that appears in the URL), page type, and its status (draft, published, or archived).
From the page list you can:
- New page — start a fresh page in the editor.
- Edit — open an existing page.
You can also manage all of these pages — and your media — from a connected AI assistant (Claude or ChatGPT). See Authoring Content with Your Own AI Agent.
Building a page with blocks
Pages are made of blocks — self-contained sections you stack to build the page. Available block types are:
- Hero — a large headline section at the top.
- Text — a paragraph or rich-text section.
- Stats — highlighted numbers (for example, team size or years in business).
- Links grid — a grid of links.
- Call to action (CTA) — a prominent button and message.
- Image — a single image. Point it at an image address — usually one you picked from your Media library (below).
- Video — an embedded video from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Wistia, or Dailymotion. Paste the ordinary link you would send a colleague — see Adding a video below.
- Link — a labelled hyperlink (a title plus its address).
The editor is split into two panes:
- The left is a live preview that renders the page exactly as visitors will see it.
- The right is a form for whichever block you've selected.
Click any block in the preview to edit its content on the right. Drag blocks to reorder them, and use the block toolbar to add or remove them. There is no auto-save — your changes are kept when you click Save Draft or Save & Publish. If something required is missing (for example, a hero without a headline), the editor lists every problem in a red banner and outlines the affected blocks — fix them and save again.
Adding a video
Paste the ordinary link — the one from your browser's address bar, or from the site's Share button. Marmend converts it into the correct embed format for you, so you never need to hunt for an "embed" link or paste any HTML.
| Source | Paste something like |
|---|---|
| YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=..., a youtu.be/... short link, a Shorts link, a live link, or a playlist link |
| Vimeo | https://vimeo.com/... |
| Loom | the Share link, https://www.loom.com/share/... |
| Wistia | your account's media link, https://youraccount.wistia.com/medias/... |
| Dailymotion | https://www.dailymotion.com/video/... or a dai.ly/... short link |
A few things worth knowing:
- Link to one video, not to a channel. A link to a channel, a profile, a search-results page, or a site's homepage is refused when you save, because there is no single video for the page to play. Open the video itself and copy its link.
- Start at a particular moment. If your YouTube link carries a start time, it is kept, and the video begins there.
- Unlisted Vimeo videos — copy the whole link, including the extra code after the video number. Without that code the player reports the video as private.
- Other sources are not accepted. Only the sources listed above can be embedded, which keeps your pages safe for visitors.
- YouTube videos are embedded in privacy mode, so no viewing cookies are set until a visitor actually presses play.
If a video block shows nothing on the published page, the link is almost certainly not a single-video link. Re-open the block, paste the link to the video itself, and save again.
Block width
Some blocks (Hero, Text, Image, Video, Link) have a Block width setting with four sizes, from narrow to full width. Pick a smaller width to centre a block on the page (handy for a small image or a short link), or the widest setting to fill the content area.
Draft → publish lifecycle
Every page has a status, shown as a badge in the page list and on the editor tabs:
- Draft — saved but not visible to the public. New pages start here.
- Published — live on your public site at its slug.
- Archived — removed from the public site and hidden from the main list.
The editor has two save buttons:
- Save Draft — saves your work without making it public.
- Save & Publish — saves and pushes the page live. Editing and publishing again re-renders the live page with your changes.
You can Unpublish a published page to take it off the public site while keeping it in your list as a draft — handy for temporarily pulling a page without losing it. Archiving removes the page entirely (visitors get a "not found" response).
In the job site editor (the visual, multi-page view), saved changes publish automatically — what you see is what's live. The advanced editor is where drafts and explicit publishing live.
Media library
Upload an image once, then reuse it across any page — no need to host images elsewhere.
- Open Admin Panel → CMS → Media to browse your library. Each image shows its filename and a Copy URL action; you can delete images you no longer need.
- Upload accepts PNG, JPG, WebP, and GIF, up to 5 MB.
- Uploads are deduplicated: if you upload the exact same image twice, Marmend reuses the existing one instead of storing a copy — so your library stays tidy.
- To use an image, copy its URL and paste it into an Image block, or pick it directly in the SEO panel (below).
Deleting an image that's still in use: Marmend warns you (and, over an AI assistant, refuses and lists the pages that use it). Update those pages first so you don't leave a broken image on a live page.
SEO and social sharing
For pages you created, the editor's SEO panel controls how the page appears in search results and when shared on social media:
- SEO title — the title shown in search results (a length hint helps you stay in the recommended range).
- SEO description — the short summary under the title in search results.
- Social share image — the preview image shown when the page is shared (Open Graph image). Paste an image address, or click a thumbnail from your Media library to fill it in instantly.
Click Save SEO to store these. On a live page, saving re-publishes it so search engines and social platforms pick up the change.
Languages and translations
Your public site can be multilingual. Each page exists per language:
- Your default language is served at the normal address (for example,
/about). - Other languages are served under a language prefix (for example,
/uk/about,/de/about). - A language switcher lets visitors move between the versions, and search engines are told which translations exist (via
hreflang). - If a page hasn't been translated into a given language yet, visitors are shown the default-language version rather than a missing page.
In the editor you pick a page's language when you create it. To offer a page in another language, create it again in that language (reusing the same slug) and translate the content — the two versions are cross-linked automatically. A page's language is fixed once it's created; to change languages, create a new page in the language you want.
Generating a page with AI
If AI page generation is enabled for your organization, you'll see a Generate with AI button in the editor.
- Click Generate with AI to open the generator.
- Choose a page type — Custom, About, Team, Values, or Contact.
- Choose a tone — Friendly, Professional, or Bold.
- Describe the page in your own words (for example, "We're a remote-first design agency. Emphasize our async culture and the open-source tools we publish.").
- Click Generate. It usually takes about 10–15 seconds.
The AI builds a complete set of blocks you can then refine in the editor.
Generated content replaces whatever is currently in the editor. If you have edits you want to keep, click Save Draft before generating.
Site appearance
To change the overall look of your public pages, open CMS → Settings. Here you pick one of three site templates:
- Modern — generous whitespace and a bold sans-serif look (the default).
- Classic — serif typography in a narrow, centered column.
- Bold — a full-bleed dark hero with color-flooded sections and vibrant buttons.
Switching the template re-renders all of your public content — every CMS page, every job landing, and your vacancy listings — in the new look, so your whole site stays consistent. All block types, including images, videos, and links, render in every template.
Managing pages from an AI assistant
You can drive everything above from a connected AI assistant (Claude or ChatGPT), which is handy for bulk edits and translations. Your assistant can:
- List and read your pages (including drafts) and your media library.
- Create, update, and publish pages — the assistant proposes the change and you confirm it.
- Upload images (they're deduplicated just like manual uploads) and delete unused ones — deletion is refused, with the referencing pages listed, if an image is still in use.
Content changes go live via a publish step, exactly like the editor. Live-page slug renames are done as unpublish → rename → publish. See Authoring Content with Your Own AI Agent for how to connect and use it.
Some slugs are reserved for the system (such as
jobs,about-marmend, andsupport) and can't be used for your own pages.
