Desktop App

The Marmend Desktop App is a native macOS application that lets you record and transcribe meetings directly from your computer — without opening a web browser. It connects securely to your Marmend account using a personal token.

Getting Started

Step 1: Generate a Token

  1. Log into your Marmend account in the web browser
  2. Go to SettingsConnected Devices
  3. Click "Generate New Token"
  4. Enter a name for your device (e.g., "Max's MacBook Pro")
  5. Copy the token — it is shown only once and cannot be retrieved later

Important: Keep your token private. Anyone with your token can access your Marmend account from the desktop app.

Step 2: Connect the Desktop App

  1. Open the Marmend Desktop App on your Mac
  2. When prompted, paste the token you copied
  3. The app verifies your identity and shows: "Connected as [email protected]"

Your token is stored securely in the macOS Keychain — you won't need to enter it again.

Using the Desktop App

View Today's Meetings

When you open the app, it automatically shows your meetings for today, pulled from your connected calendar (Google Calendar or Outlook). Each meeting shows:

  • Meeting title and time
  • Number of attendees
  • A video link (if available)
  • Bot status (if a recording bot is assigned)

Record a Meeting

To record and transcribe a meeting:

  1. Find the meeting in your daily list
  2. Click the "Record" button
  3. The app starts streaming audio to Marmend's transcription service
  4. A live transcript is generated with speaker names
  5. When the meeting ends, the transcript is saved to your Marmend account

You can also check recent meetings to see which ones have transcripts ready.

Check Recent Meetings

The app shows your recently completed meetings from today, along with their transcript status:

  • Transcript ready — The transcript has been processed and is available in Marmend
  • Processing — The transcript is still being generated
  • No transcript — The meeting was not recorded

Managing Your Tokens

View Connected Devices

Go to SettingsConnected Devices in the web app to see all your active desktop tokens, including:

  • Device name
  • When the token was created
  • When it was last used

Revoke a Token

If you lose your laptop or no longer want the desktop app connected:

  1. Go to SettingsConnected Devices
  2. Click "Revoke" next to the device
  3. The token is immediately invalidated
  4. The desktop app will prompt you to reconnect with a new token

Tips & Best Practices

  • Name your tokens descriptively (e.g., "Office MacBook", "Home iMac") so you can identify them later
  • Revoke tokens for devices you no longer use
  • One token per device — generate a separate token for each computer
  • The desktop app requires an active internet connection to function
  • Your administrator must enable the Desktop App feature for your organization
