Campaign Management

Overview

Campaigns let you create trackable links for your job postings. When you share these links on LinkedIn, job boards, or email newsletters, the system automatically tracks how many visitors and applications each campaign generates — and calculates the cost per visitor.

Accessing Campaigns

Navigate to Recruiting → Campaigns from the sidebar.

Creating a Campaign

  1. Click New Campaign in the top right
  2. Fill in the details:
Field Required Description Example
Campaign Name Yes A descriptive name "Spring Developer Hiring"
UTM Source No Where you'll share the link linkedin, indeed, email
UTM Medium No The type of channel paid, organic, social
UTM Campaign Auto Auto-generated from name, or customize spring-developer-hiring
Vacancy No Which job posting to link to Senior Backend Developer
Budget No How much you're spending 500.00 EUR
Start Date No When the campaign starts 2026-03-15
End Date No When the campaign ends 2026-04-15
Notes No Any additional context "Sponsored post on LinkedIn"
  1. Click Save Campaign

Using Campaign Links

After creating a campaign that is linked to a vacancy:

  1. Find the campaign in the table
  2. Click Link in the rightmost column
  3. A shortened tracking URL is copied to your clipboard (you'll see a "Campaign link copied" confirmation)
  4. Paste this URL wherever you promote the job posting (LinkedIn post, email, job board)

The copied link is a short URL (e.g., https://app.marmend.store/r/Xk9mB2) that redirects to the full tracking URL. This keeps the shared link clean while preserving all tracking parameters behind the scenes.

Important: Always use the campaign link, not the direct vacancy URL. The direct URL won't track which campaign brought the visitor.

What the tracking URL contains

Behind the short link, the full URL includes:

  • utm_source — Which platform (e.g., linkedin)
  • utm_medium — Channel type (e.g., paid)
  • utm_campaign — Campaign name (e.g., spring-developer-hiring)
  • source — Internal candidate attribution parameter

The UTM parameters are tracked by Plausible Analytics (website traffic). The source parameter is used by Marmend internally to tag candidates who apply through this link.

Reading Campaign Results

The campaign table shows real-time performance:

Column What it means
Campaign Campaign name and UTM tag
Vacancy Linked job posting
Status Active, Paused, or Completed
Visitors Unique people who clicked your campaign link
Pageviews Total page views from this campaign
Budget Your set campaign budget
Cost/Visitor Budget ÷ Visitors — lower is better

Understanding Cost Per Visitor

Range Rating Meaning
Below 5 EUR Excellent Very efficient campaign
5–15 EUR Good Normal for targeted roles
Above 15 EUR Review Consider optimizing or trying a different channel

Campaign Status

Status Meaning
Active Campaign is running
Paused Temporarily stopped (links still work, but you're not actively promoting)
Completed Campaign has ended

Change status by editing the campaign (click Edit).

Campaigns vs. Link Builder

Marmend offers two ways to create tracked vacancy links:

Feature Campaign Link Builder
Where Recruiting → Campaigns Vacancy → Analytics tab
Budget tracking Yes No
ROI metrics Cost/Visitor calculated No
URL shortening Yes (auto-shortened) No (shows full URL)
Best for Planned, budgeted efforts Quick ad-hoc sharing

Use Campaigns when you're spending money and want to track ROI. Use the Link Builder when you just need a quick tracked URL for a social media post or email.

Best Practices

  1. One campaign per channel per vacancy: Instead of one "LinkedIn" campaign, create "LinkedIn – Senior Dev – March 2026" for precise tracking.
  2. Always use campaign links: Sharing the direct vacancy URL won't be tracked back to the campaign.
  3. Compare channels: Run the same job on LinkedIn (paid) and Indeed (organic) as separate campaigns to see which delivers better candidates.
  4. Track budget accurately: Enter what you actually spend so the Cost/Visitor metric is meaningful.
  5. Mark completed campaigns: Set status to "Completed" when done to keep your dashboard clean.
  6. Review monthly: Check which campaigns had the best View → Apply rate and invest more in those channels.
