AI Method — Natural Language Queries

AI Method is a built-in assistant that lets you query your HR data the way you'd ask a colleague — in plain language, in any language. No SQL, no filters, no special syntax.

Overview

Open the AI page from the sidebar and ask questions like:

• "Show me all candidates rejected last month"
• "List employees in Berlin without a manager"
• "How many open vacancies are in the Engineering department?"
• "Who has the most interviews scheduled this week?"

You can also use voice input — click the microphone button, speak your question, and AI Method will transcribe and answer.

Results appear as a clean table, with department and team names shown as colored tags so you can scan at a glance.

How to Use AI Method

Asking a question

1. Open the AI page from the left sidebar
2. Type your question in the box, or click the microphone icon to speak
3. Press Enter (or stop the recording) to send
4. Results appear as a table below; click any row to open the underlying record

Refining a query

If the answer doesn't match what you expected:

• Rephrase — e.g., instead of "engineers", try "employees in the Engineering department"
• Be specific about time — "last month", "in Q1 2026", "this week"
• Name the field — "candidates with status Rejected" is more reliable than "rejected ones"

Voice input

The microphone button records audio and transcribes it automatically. The first time you use it, your browser will ask for microphone permission — accept once and Marmend will remember.

Voice works in any of the languages Marmend supports — speak in German, English, Ukrainian, etc., and AI Method will understand.

Tips

• Works in any language. Ask in German, English, Ukrainian — answers come back in the same table format regardless.
• Natural date phrases work. "Yesterday", "last quarter", "since the beginning of the year" — AI Method understands them.
• Keep questions focused. "Show me Berlin engineers hired in 2025" works better than a vague "give me a report".
• Voice is faster than typing for long questions — try speaking for queries with multiple filters.
• Admins can review unsuccessful queries — if AI Method couldn't answer, your admin sees it in the dev panel and can improve the system.

FAQ

Q: Is my data shared with OpenAI or any third party? A: No. AI Method runs on an in-house language model — your data never leaves Marmend's infrastructure.

Q: Why did my query return no results? A: Either no records match (try a wider filter), or AI Method misunderstood the question. Try rephrasing more concretely. Your admin can see the underlying query attempt and improve future answers.

Q: Can I export the results? A: Click any row to open the underlying record in Marmend, where you can use the standard export controls. Direct CSV export from AI Method is on the roadmap.

Q: Why don't I see the AI page in my sidebar? A: AI Method must be enabled by your admin. Ask them to turn on the AI Method feature for your workspace.

Q: Can AI Method change data, or only read it? A: It is mostly a read-only assistant. A small set of organisational changes (creating departments and teams) is supported; everything else requires you to open the record and edit it manually — by design, to prevent unintended changes.
